Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Euro Staffs in Shah Alam, M10, MY

Job Purpose

A Senior Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design, analysis, and implementation of geotechnical projects, including site investigations, soil and rock analysis, foundation design, and construction supervision. The role involves providing technical support for projects in various sectors, such as civil engineering, construction, and infrastructure development.

Duties, Responsibilities & KPI

Responsibilities may include as below but are not limited to the following:

1. Site Investigation & Ground Assessment
   • Lead, plan, and personally oversee site investigation works and assessment of ground conditions.
   • Identify geotechnical hazards and risks, and advise project teams and management on mitigation measures.
   • Prepare, review, and approve Terms of Reference (TOR) for soil investigation contractors.
   • Review and validate desk studies based on client data, historical records, and reliable external sources.
   • Supervise, audit, and coordinate SI works to ensure data adequacy for design development and authority submissions.
2. Geotechnical Analysis & Reporting
   • Lead the interpretation and analysis of geotechnical data to assess bearing capacity, strength, settlement, and stability.
   • Review and endorse SI reports, field logs, laboratory results, and raw data.
   • Lead the preparation, review, and approval of geotechnical interpretative and design reports.
   • Ensure all reports comply with applicable codes, standards, guidelines, and authority requirements.
   • Provide professional judgment and engineering justification for design assumptions and recommendations.
3. Design Leadership & Engineering
   • Lead geotechnical design for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, embankments, slopes, and ground improvement works.
   • Oversee and verify slope stability analyses, settlement assessments, earth pressure calculations, and design checks.
   • Lead advanced geotechnical modelling using software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or equivalent.
   • Provide value engineering solutions to optimise safety, constructability, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
   • Review and approve detailed engineering drawings prepared using AutoCAD or equivalent drafting tools.
   • Review, verify, and approve Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates for geotechnical works, ensuring consistency with design intent.
4. Construction Stage Support & Technical Advisory
   • Provide senior-level geotechnical support during construction, including site inspections and technical meetings.
   • Review construction methodologies and temporary works from a geotechnical perspective.
   • Resolve complex geotechnical issues arising during construction and provide engineering solutions.
   • Endorse site observation reports, technical advisories, and corrective action recommendations.
5. Project Management and Coordination
   • Lead and manage geotechnical components of projects from investigation through design and construction support.
   • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including civil, structural, environmental, and construction teams.
   • Manage geotechnical deliverables to meet agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
   • Provide technical leadership and input for proposals, tenders, and authority submissions.
   • Mentor, guide, and review work produced by junior geotechnical engineers and graduates.
6. Professional & Organizational Responsibilities
   • Ensure compliance with professional practice standards, statutory requirements, and company quality systems.
   • Contribute to continuous improvement of geotechnical procedures, standards, and best practices.
   • Support business development initiatives through technical input and client engagement.
   • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned in alignment with the company’s vision and mission.
   • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs, following the company’s vision and mission.

Pay

RM6,000.00 - RM8,500.00 per month
