Job summary

Air Liquide Malaysia is seeking a Senior E&I Engineer to ensure designs meet function, fit and purpose and to support growth with technical knowledge and operational experience.

The role collaborates with tendering and project teams to deliver high-quality designs, optimize costs, and ensure safety, regulatory compliance and successful commissioning across projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in E&I design for projects.
• Knowledge of hazardous area standards (IECEx/ATEX/NEC).
• Ability to prepare instrument lists, P&IDs and datasheets.
• Experience with site supervision and commissioning.
• Strong collaboration with project teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Engineering & delivery team with design basis, cost estimates and technical proposals for quotations.
• Prioritize safety adherence in all tasks and projects.
• Analyze client technical data.
• Develop design documents: instrument lists, P&IDs, datasheets, loop diagrams, cable schedules and MTO calculations.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous area regulations.
• Assist in developing control philosophy and equipment specs; review P&IDs and drawings.
• Assess vendor designs (GADs, sizing calculations, panel drawings).
• Respond to RFIs/RFPs.
• Develop relationships with fabricators, vendors, customers.
• Oversee E&I installations, site visits, pre-commissioning and commissioning.

Job description

The purpose of the Senior E&I Engineer is to ensure that all E&I related designs meets the required function, fit and purpose. This role is responsible for supporting the growth of the group through the technical knowledge, design and operational experience.

This role shall also deliver designs to the required quality while bringing value to the company by optimizing designs and reducing overall costs. The Senior E&I Engineer will also works closely within the tendering and project teams to ensure the best outcome for the company is achieved and reports to the Engineering manager.

• To be a part of & support the group’s Project Engineering & delivery team with design basis, cost estimates and technical proposals for quotations.
• Prioritize safety adherence throughout all tasks and projects.
• Analyze and comprehend client technical data thoroughly.
• Develop comprehensive design documents encompassing instrumentation lists, P&IDs, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, cable schedules and E&I MTO calculations, etc
• Ensure compliance with hazardous area regulations, including IECEx, ATEX, INMETRO and NEC standards.
• Assist in developing control philosophy, equipment specifications/datasheets and requisitions, proposals, operator manuals and support Hazops. Act as a reviewer of P&IDs, specifications/datasheets, drawings and manuals for other team members.
• Assess vendor designs, including GADs, sizing calculations, and panel drawings.
• Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with fabricators, vendors and customers.
• Oversee E&I installations, conduct site visits, and facilitate pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, adhering strictly to regulations and procedures.
