Job summary

Global Process Systems seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in Malaysia to lead electrical design activities for offshore and onshore oil & gas projects. You will prepare detailed design deliverables, review models and vendor drawings, and ensure project requirements are met.

You will guide junior engineers, coordinate across disciplines, and act as the company representative to clients and vendors. The role emphasizes safety, standards compliance, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 15–18 years’ experience in offshore and onshore Oil & Gas, mostly in engineering consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA70, API, ISA, IEC, IEEE codes for Electrical equipment.
• Experience on mid to large size projects ($20–250 Million).
• Proficient with ETAP modelling and reports.
• Knowledge of modular building design including MCCs, HV/LV switchgear interlocks and power systems.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Electrical Detailed Design deliverables such as single line diagrams, control circuits, cable schedules, termination drawings, layout drawings, installation drawings and load lists.
• Review 3D model and 2D drawings; participate in 30%, 60%, 90% model design reviews.
• Review vendor drawings; ensure project requirements are met.
• Coordinate electrical interface with power generation, process skids, instrumentation and plant communications.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to Instrumentation Engineers and other disciplines as required.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for timely issue resolution.
• Act as company representative in front of Clients and Vendors.

Job description

• Preparation and review of Electrical Detailed Design deliverables such as Single line diagrams, Control circuits, Cable schedule, Termination drawings, Layout drawings, Installation Drawings, Block Diagrams, Load list, Design basis, Earthing philosophy, Material Take Off etc.
• Review of the 3D model and 2D drawings,
• Participation in 30%, 60%, 90% model design review sessions
• Review vendor drawings, ensuring that all project requirements are met
• Preparations and review of Material Requisitions packages, Vendor offer evaluation and TBEs.
• Interface and coordination engineering between power generation package, process skids, process equipment, instrumentation and Plant communication system.
• Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Mechanical & Static related engineering deliverables developed by sub-contractors and vendor ensuring design optimization in compliance with relevant codes, standards and best practices
• Provide technical support to the Procurement Department during the procurement process, including technical clarifications and vendor evaluations.
• Preparation of technical proposals in response for Clients RFQ
• Ensure the required technical quality, integrity, and consistency of all Instrumentation engineering work.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Instrumentation Engineers and other discipline personnel, as required.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure effective interfaces and timely resolution of interdisciplinary issues
• Acting as Company representative in front of Clients and Vendors

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 15-18 years’ experience in offshore and onshore Oil & Gas Industry of which majority in engineering consultancy
• Strong knowledge and practical application of relevant of industry Codes and Standards (including NFPA70, API, ISA, IEC, IEEE) for Electrical equipment, switchgear, transformers, generators and cables.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILL:

• Experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer on at mid to large size project ($20--250 Million)
• Competent in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation.
• Competent in the use of design and assessment methods used within discipline.
• Experienced with LV and MV motors applications, Gas turbine-based power generation system, Generator protection and control system, LV/MV Substation, MV&LV Transformers, Switchgears and Power Monitoring system design, Load shedding, UPS sizing and protection setting calculation.
• Experienced in preparation and review of calculations such as Generator sizing, Transformer sizing, Power and Control Cable sizing, Lighting calculations,
• Experienced in an offshore skid/modular design of process oil&gas packages (GDUs, Desalter etc. and similar process equipment)
• Experienced in electrical network analysis using ETAP (capable to review of ETAP model and report in various system scenarios) is preferred
• Knowledge in Pre-fabricated modular building design including overall building design such as HVAC, F&G and cabling works.
• Knowledge in Intelligent type MCCs, HV & LV switchgear interlock schemes, interface and ICSS communication.
• Experience in Power monitoring systems design including development of IO list, load shedding scheme and vendor drawing review.
• Experienced in Safety studies such as SAFOP.
• Aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of engineering
• Experience in Power system studies and software such as ETAP
• Competence in quality control requirements and quality assurance for engineering work
• Poses good interpersonal and communication skills with sound English written and oral communication skills.
