Job summary

ThreeStep Advisory in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Semi-Senior Accountant to manage a portfolio of SME clients from start to finish, keeping their books accurate and on time while explaining numbers to owners.

You’ll join a firm focused on SME clients and owner-facing advisory, with structured training that includes AI tools, and you’ll grow into advisory work while supporting multiple deadlines in a small, close-knit team.

Qualifications

• Handle full set of accounts for a portfolio of SME clients across different industries.
• Prepare monthly and annual management accounts, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Review entries and work prepared by junior team members.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax agents for audit, tax, and statutory submissions.
• Communicate with clients on queries, missing documents, and deadlines.
• Support SST, payroll, and other compliance matters where required.
• Help improve our workflows as we build smarter systems and use AI tools.

As a Semi-Senior Accountant, you’ll manage a portfolio of SME clients from start to finish. You’ll keep their books accurate and on time, and you’ll help business owners understand what their numbers mean. This role suits someone who has mastered the fundamentals and wants to grow into advisory work.

What You’ll Do

• Handle full set of accounts for a portfolio of SME clients across different industries
• Prepare monthly and annual management accounts, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Review entries and work prepared by junior team members
• Liaise with external auditors and tax agents for audit, tax, and statutory submissions

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, or a professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, MIA, or in progress)
• At least 2 years of experience in an accounting firm or accounting role
• Able to handle full set of accounts independently
• Hands-on experience with cloud accounting software; Bukku or Xero is a strong plus
• Good working knowledge of MPERS/MFRS and Malaysian tax basics
• Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines
• Clear communicator in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an advantage for liaising with Mandarin-speaking clients
