Job summary

MACWONG FOOD SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Accountant to manage daily accounting operations and support management with sound financial planning. You will handle full sets of accounts, prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, monitor cash flow, and ensure SST, tax and regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong Excel skills and leadership ability. Five years of relevant experience and a degree in accounting or finance are required;

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Hands‑on experience handling full sets of accounts independently.
• Proficient in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Handle full sets of accounts (AP, AR, GL) and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
• Monitor cash flow, expenses, budgets and financial performance.
• Prepare financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting reports for management.
• Handle SST, tax-related matters and statutory compliance requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers and authorities.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards and regulations.
• Review accounting entries, payments, invoices and documents.
• Supervise and guide junior accounting staff.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Maintain proper filing of financial records and documents.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced, responsible, and detail-oriented Senior Finance Accountant to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's daily accounting operations, preparing financial reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting management in financial planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Handle and manage full sets of accounts, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), and bank reconciliations.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end financial closing.

Monitor cash flow, company expenses, budgets, and financial performance.

Prepare financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting reports for management.

Handle SST, tax-related matters, and other statutory compliance requirements.

Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and relevant authorities.

Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards and financial regulations.

Review accounting entries, payment transactions, invoices, and financial documentation.

Supervise and guide junior accounting staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial efficiency.

Maintain proper financial records and ensure all accounting documents are accurately filed.

Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in Accounting or Finance is compulsory.

Must have hands‑on experience handling full sets of accounts independently.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualifications (eg: ACCA, CPA, CIMA) are an advantage.

Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, taxation, SST, and statutory requirements.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as SQL Accounting, AutoCount, or equivalent.

Good understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsible, trustworthy, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience supervising or leading an accounting team will be an added advantage.

Important: Candidates with less than 5 years of relevant accounting experience will not be considered.

Salary & Benefits

Basic Salary: RM6000 - RM8000 per month (based on experience and qualifications)
