Job summary

Kuok Group Singapore is seeking a Security Officer to uphold a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for shoppers, tenants, staff and visitors at Johor Bahru City Square Mall. You will patrol, monitor CCTV, control access and respond to incidents with calm, professional handling.

The role emphasizes customer service, incident reporting, and collaboration with tenants and contractors, with rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays. Prior mall security experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in security, customer service, hospitality, retail operations, or related field.
• Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Physically fit and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Experience in shopping malls, commercial buildings, hotels, or transportation hubs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Security Patrol & Surveillance: patrol mall areas, monitor CCTV/alarm systems and report issues.
• Access Control: manage contractor/vendor/visitor entry and verify permissions.
• Incident Response: respond to incidents, assist during emergencies, document events.
• Safety & Emergency Preparedness: inspect exits/equipment and assist drills.
• Customer Service: direct visitors, handle enquiries and lost-and-found.
• Tenant & Contractor Support: monitor works and ensure safety compliance.
• General Duties: maintain logs, attend trainings, and uphold grooming standards.

Job Summary

To maintain a safe, secure, and pleasant environment for shoppers, tenants, staff, and visitors through effective surveillance, patrols, access control, incident response, and customer service. The Security Officer serves as the first line of defense in protecting the mall's assets and ensuring compliance with security and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Security Patrol & Surveillance

• Conduct regular patrols of the mall, common areas, car parks, loading bays, and external premises.
• Monitor CCTV systems, alarm systems, and security equipment to detect and prevent security breaches.
• Report suspicious activities, safety hazards, and security concerns to supervisors promptly.
• Ensure all entrances, exits, and restricted areas are properly secured.

2. Access Control

• Monitor and control access for contractors, vendors, tenants, and visitors entering restricted areas.
• Verify permits, passes, and authorization documents where required.
• Assist in key management and access card control procedures.
• Ensure security procedures are adhered to by all parties within the premises.

3. Incident Response

• Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, emergencies, and customer complaints.
• Provide immediate assistance during accidents, medical emergencies, fires, and evacuation situations.
• Assist in crowd control and traffic management during peak periods, events, and festive seasons.
• Record and report all incidents accurately in the Daily Occurrence Book (DOB) and incident reports.

4. Safety & Emergency Preparedness

• Conduct routine inspections of emergency exits, fire escape routes, and fire-fighting equipment.
• Assist in emergency drills and evacuation exercises.
• Ensure emergency access routes remain clear and unobstructed at all times.
• Support emergency response efforts in accordance with established procedures.

5. Customer Service

• Provide directions and assistance to shoppers and visitors when required.
• Assist with lost-and-found cases and customer enquiries.
• Maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude while performing security duties.
• Act as an ambassador of the mall by delivering excellent customer service.

6. Tenant & Contractor Support

• Monitor tenant renovation works, maintenance activities, and contractor movements.
• Ensure contractors comply with mall security and safety requirements.
• Report any non-compliance, unsafe practices, or unauthorized works.

7. General Duties

• Maintain security logs, patrol records, and incident reports accurately.
• Attend briefings, training sessions, and emergency drills as required.
• Maintain proper grooming and appearance in accordance with company standards.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

• Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Ability to converse in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
• Physically fit and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Experience in shopping malls, commercial buildings, hotels, transportation hubs, or integrated developments will be an advantage.
