Job summary

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of construction health and safety experience.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Valid Site Safety Supervisor certification (Yellow Book or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian construction safety regulations and international practices.
• Proven ability to lead safety inductions, investigations and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

About the role

Boon Boon Builder Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Site Safety Supervisor to join our construction team in Sibu, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices across all our construction sites. As Site Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, protecting the wellbeing of our workforce, and embedding a strong safety culture throughout our operations. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering projects safely and responsibly whilst maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

Conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and safety concerns

Developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety protocols tailored to specific project requirements

Providing comprehensive safety induction and training programmes for all site personnel

Investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions

Maintaining detailed safety records, statistics, and compliance documentation

Conducting daily toolbox talks and safety briefings to reinforce safe working practices

Liaising with project managers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to safety standards

Monitoring personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and ensuring proper maintenance and storage

Developing emergency response procedures and conducting regular drills

Promoting a proactive safety culture and encouraging worker participation in safety initiatives

Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and local construction regulations

What we're looking for

3- 5 years' experience working in construction health and safety, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity

Valid Site Safety Supervisor certification or equivalent professional qualification (Yellow Book Holder)

Strong knowledge of Malaysian construction safety regulations and international best practices

Excellent understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies

Proficiency in incident investigation, accident reporting, and corrective action implementation

Demonstrated ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to diverse audiences at all levels

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and documentation simultaneously

Proactive mindset with a genuine commitment to preventing workplace incidents and injuries

Ability to lead by example and foster a positive safety culture amongst the workforce

Physical capability to conduct regular site inspections and perform safety-related duties on site

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management software (preferred)

Valid driving licence for site mobility (preferred)
