Job summary

EPS Malaysia in Pekan Nanas, Johor, is seeking a seasoned HSE professional to lead the development and enforcement of safety, health and environmental programs across the manufacturing site.

The role emphasizes risk assessment, auditing, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with DOSH and ISO standards. You will train staff, liaise with regulators, and drive continuous improvement.

Candidates with SHO certification and 5+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE within manufacturing or construction industries.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
  • Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) by DOSH (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead investigations and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess workplace risks and implement measures to eliminate or reduce them.
  • Prevent and mitigate health and environmental risks by formulating and enforcing protection policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and review health, safety, and environmental documentation and data.
  • Coordinate safety and environmental audits, remedy faults and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Consult with all departments to provide expertise and ensure compliance with standards, permits and processes.
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans, including data capture and ongoing analysis.
  • Oversee disposal of substances in compliance with environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct emergency response and preparedness programs (e.g., emergency drills).
  • Develop and deliver OHS training programs, inductions and refresher sessions for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure all personnel follow personal safety precautions and safe working practices.
  • Monitor HSE programs, statistics, and trends, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with governmental bodies (DOSH, JKKP, DOE, KKM, CIDB, etc.) regarding certifications and compliance.
  • Prepare monthly SHE activity reports, HIRARC, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and enforce SHE procedures (SOPs).
  • Authorize Permit to Work (HSE portion).
  • Lead accident investigations and prepare reports.
