KEJURUTERAAN RIAZ SDN. BHD. seeks a qualified Safety & Health Officer to lead on-site safety management for construction projects in Malaysia. The role requires implementing OSH policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring DOSH/JKKP and OSHA compliance.
You will perform inspections, lead toolbox talks, investigate incidents, and coordinate with project teams to drive a proactive safety culture across sites and subcontractors.
Develop, implement, and monitor the company's occupational safety and health policies and procedures at the project site.
Ensure construction activities comply with applicable DOSH/JKKP, OSHA and other relevant safety and health requirements.
Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify hazards, unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices.
Conduct and review HIRARC/risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
Monitor and ensure workers, subcontractors and site personnel comply with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Conduct safety inductions, toolbox meetings, safety briefings and awareness programs.
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences and prepare relevant reports.
Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions arising from safety inspections and incidents.
Prepare, maintain, and update safety and health documentation, records, reports, and registers.
Monitor site housekeeping, emergency preparedness, safety signage, access routes, and welfare facilities.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections and follow up on identified non-compliance.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Site Supervisors, QA/QC personnel, subcontractors, and workers regarding safety and health matters.
Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and relevant authorities on occupational safety and health matters when required.
Ensure appropriate emergency response procedures are established and communicated to site personnel.
Monitor the availability and condition of safety equipment, PPE, first-aid facilities, and other safety-related resources.
Organize and participate in safety committee meetings and prepare relevant minutes and reports.
Keep up to date with changes in occupational safety and health legislation and ensure site practices are updated accordingly.
Promote a strong safety culture and encourage workers to maintain safe working practices.
Perform other duties related to occupational safety and health as assigned by the management.
Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
Registered/competent Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health legislation, DOSH/JKKP requirements, HIRARC, risk assessment, and construction site safety practices.
Experience in conducting safety inspections, audits, toolbox meetings, and incident investigations.
Good knowledge of PPE, emergency response, and workplace safety procedures.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Good report writing and documentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Able to work independently and make sound decisions regarding safety matters.
Responsible, proactive, disciplined and detail-oriented.
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple safety-related matters.
Willing to work at construction sites and travel to project locations when required.
