Job summary

Businesslist in Malaysia is seeking a Safety Officer to lead workplace safety and environmental health initiatives in Johor. You will identify risks, implement controls, and ensure compliance with DOSH, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.

The role requires a Bachelor or Diploma in OSH or related field, at least 5 years’ HSE experience in manufacturing or construction, and strong leadership to conduct investigations, audits, and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE within manufacturing or construction industries.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
• Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) by DOSH (preferred).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead investigations and audits.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess workplace risks and implement measures to eliminate or reduce them.
• Prevent and mitigate health and environmental risks by formulating and enforcing protection policies and procedures.
• Oversee and review health, safety, and environmental documentation and data.
• Coordinate safety and environmental audits, remedy faults and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Consult with all departments to provide expertise and ensure compliance with standards, permits and processes.
• Develop and implement health and safety plans, including data capture and ongoing analysis.
• Oversee disposal of substances in compliance with environmental guidelines.
• Conduct emergency response and preparedness programs (e.g., emergency drills).
• Develop and deliver OHS training programs, inductions and refresher sessions for employees and contractors.
• Ensure all personnel follow personal safety precautions and safe working practices.
• Monitor HSE programs, statistics, and trends, identifying areas for improvement.
• Liaise with governmental bodies regarding certifications and compliance.
• Prepare monthly SHE activity reports, HIRARC, JSA, and enforce SHE procedures (SOPs).
• Authorize Permit to Work (HSE portion).
• Lead accident investigations and prepare reports.
• Manage CLQ administration matters under SHE.
