Job summary

BEAKS CONSTRUCTION SDN. BHD. is seeking a Safety & Health Officer to implement and monitor workplace safety standards in line with good practices.

You will collect incident data, analyze trends, and coordinate with DOSH/JKKP to ensure compliance with the OSHA-related requirements. The role includes training, inspections, and reporting to management.

Qualifications

• Certification as Safety & Health Officer (DOSH/JKKP) or equivalent.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 is advantageous.
• Ability to liaise with DOSH, NIOSH, JKKP and local bodies to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Implement safety and health standards in the workplace.
• Collect, analyse and maintain statistics on incidents and hazards.
• Monitor effectiveness of safety measures and advise corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
• Initiate and organize OHS training for employees and executives.
• Inspect premises and oversee safe work practices and PPE usage.
• Record, investigate incidents and manage workers' compensation claims.
• Prepare reports and provide statistical information to management.

Job description

To implement safety and health standard in the work place in line with good practices.

To collect, analyze and maintain statistics on any loss time incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning and diseases or other hazards, which have occurred at the work place.

To monitor and check the effectiveness and efficiency of the safety and health measures in the work place, including corrective action plans required.

To ensure the safety and health standards and practices comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.

Support the development of OHS policies and programs.

Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise, vibration, water & air pollution)

Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.

Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.

Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.

Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)

Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.

Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.

Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.

Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.

To conduct briefing Pre-Task Talk (PTT) every morning before start work

To do induction briefing registration regarding safety during in workplace.

Job Requirements:

A certified and registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH / JKKP (Green Book Holder).

Professional Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma,Professional Degree (Environment / Health / Safety) or its equivalent.

Familiar with OSHA regulations & requirements. Knowledge in safety practices.

Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 is added value advantage.

To work closely with the local statutory bodies (DOSH, NIOSH, JKKP, etc.) to ensure compliance and update OSH related issues.

Good communication skill and able to interact with all level people.
