Job summary

Village Grocer Holdings Sdn Bhd is seeking a Retail Store Manager in Kuala Lumpur to lead store operations, drive merchandising strategies, and optimize sales performance across the entire store. You will manage inventory, partner with vendors, and guide a large store team towards exceptional customer service.

The role requires 5–10 years of supermarket retail experience, strong leadership, and the ability to work longer hours, including weekends and public holidays; fluency in English and Malay

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in retail management or related fields; those without qualification but ample supermarket experience will be considered.
• At least 5–10 years’ experience in managing supermarket retail.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to lead a large team.
• Willing to work longer hours, weekends and Public Holidays.
• Analytical, business acumen, negotiation, customer-oriented, presentation and results-driven.
• Resourceful with passion for retail supermarket and good communication.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with high integrity.
• Computer literacy in MS Office.
• Good command of English and Malay (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Assist Area Manager in managing overall store operations and drive merchandising strategy to optimize financial performance.
• Oversee inventory management, shrinkage control, safety compliance and staff development.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by handling queries and resolving complaints; perform service recovery when needed.
• Negotiate with vendors and monitor supplier performance; ensure regulatory compliance for product freshness, storage, and sanitation.
• Lead and motivate store team to achieve sales targets and operational excellence.
• Control stock levels based on forecasts, seasonality and business needs.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures across the store.
• Handle ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.
