Job summary

MELACOW MEAT RESOURCES in Melaka is seeking a dedicated Shop Assistant to join our team. This full-time role puts you at the face of our business, helping customers, processing transactions, and keeping the store welcoming and well-organised.

You will also assist with stock and uphold food safety standards. Responsibilities include restocking, cashier duties, stock deliveries, and answering customer inquiries with confidence.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably grocery or food retail.
• Strong communication skills and professional interaction with customers and colleagues.
• Excellent customer service ethos with a genuine desire to help customers.
• Reliability and punctuality with ability to work weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
• Basic numeracy for handling transactions and stock management.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional assistance.
• Processing transactions accurately using the POS system and handling payments securely.
• Restocking shelves, ensuring items are neatly labelled and accessible.
• Maintaining store cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the day.
• Answering product and policy inquiries with knowledge and confidence.
• Operating the till and completing end-of-shift cash reconciliation.
• Assisting with stock management, deliveries, and inventory checks.
• Displaying product knowledge to help customers make informed purchases.
• Following health and safety regulations in food retail environments.
• Supporting team members to achieve store targets and maintain a positive environment.
