The Restaurant Captain leads shift operations, oversees floor staff, and delivers exceptional guest service. In addition to handling main dining room operations, this position acts as the primary host for VIP Room private dining and coordinates group bookings, ensuring high hospitality standards, seamless food pacing for multi-course meals, and strong revenue generation through up-selling signature seafood offerings.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests warmly under the brand's hospitality standard, assist with table assignments, and manage guest flow during peak hours
- Guide guests through the menu, explain signature halal Chinese seafood offerings, and actively upsell fresh catch, specialties, beverages, and sides
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using the POS system, ensuring special dietary requirements or spice level preferences are clearly communicated to the kitchen
- Ensure food and beverages are served promptly, correctly, and at the proper temperature according to SOPs
- Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally on the spot, escalating complex issues to management when necessary
- Lead and support floor staff (waiters, runners) during daily operational shifts
- Assist in conducting pre-shift briefings, assigning section duties, and ensuring all team members are briefed on daily specials or out-of-stock items
- Guide and onboard junior service staff on SOPs, table service etiquette, product knowledge, and halal compliance standards
- Ensure the dining area, service stations, sideboards, and table setups are clean, fully stocked, and compliant with hygiene guidelines prior to opening
- Process guest bills correctly, manage payment transactions (Cash, Cards, E-Wallets), and handle table changes or split bills smoothly
About you
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Captain, Senior Waiter, or Service Supervisor in a fast-paced dining environment
- SPM / Diploma in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or Business Management (or equivalent working experience)
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Good command of Bahasa Melayu and English
- Familiarity with F&B POS systems and cash handling
- Strong up-selling ability and food knowledge
- Customer-oriented, energetic, reliable, calm under pressure, and a team player
- Willing to work on shifts, weekends, and public holidays
