Job summary

GCI Science & Technology (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. seeks a proactive Technical Engineer to support server and infrastructure operations.

You will troubleshoot server hardware and network issues, perform remote diagnostics, and coordinate with L1/L2 teams to sustain system reliability and performance. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years’ experience, Linux and Windows knowledge, and skills in logs analysis, RAID/BMC/iLO, and firmware updates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' server troubleshooting experience including hardware diagnostics, basic IP/networking, and remote access tools.
• Intermediate knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems with ability to use commands like ipconfig and remote console troubleshooting.
• Ability to analyze logs, identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
• Familiarity with RAID, BMC/iDRAC/iLO, and firmware updates.
• Experience handling L2 escalations and working with L3/vendor support when required.
• Mandarin language ability is advantageous for coordination.
• CIDB certification encouraged.
• Ability to prepare technical reports including reasons for outages (RFO) and post-incident documentation.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (VLAN, subnetting, ping/traceroute, DNS).

Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical assistance and troubleshooting support for network and equipment-related issues.
• Conduct remote diagnostics and fault isolation to identify and resolve technical problems.
• Deliver configuration guidance and technical advisory support to onsite teams.
• Perform log analysis and ticket review to support issue investigation.
• Access systems remotely (when authorized) to carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with Level 1 (L1) onsite support teams for issue handling and resolution.
• Update and maintain technical documentation related to incidents and system changes.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and contribute to system optimization efforts.
