Job summary

JAPAN AIR FILTER MALAYSIA SDN BHD is seeking a proactive Research and Development Engineer to design and develop new products and improve existing ones to meet customer and market needs.

You will perform engineering calculations, prepare technical drawings and BOMs, and lead R&D projects with cross-functional teams. Fresh graduates are welcome; 1–2 years experience is a plus, with strong English and Bahasa Melayu communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering.
• Fresh graduates welcome; 1–2 years of relevant experience considered.
• Proficiency in Electrical systems and PLC.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and engineering skills.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu; Mandarin preferred for Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.

Job description

Design and develop new products, as well as improve existing products, to meet customer and market requirements.

Perform engineering calculations and prepare technical drawings, sketches, prototypes, product specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM).

Lead and manage R&D projects, ensuring timely completion and achievement of project objectives.

Develop and coordinate project plans with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing teams to support product development and production.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently and meet business objectives.

Customize and enhance existing product designs and features based on customer requirements.

Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders as required.

Support product testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Machatronics or a related engineering.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates with 1-2 years of relevant working experience are also welcome.
• Proficiency in Electrical systems, PLC.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and engineering skills.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Melayu. Mandarin proficiency is preferred to support communication with Mandarin-speaking customers and stakeholders.
