Job summary

Hong Poh Engineering Construction Sdn. Bhd. in Penang is expanding its Civil, Structural & Architectural Division and seeks Quantity Surveyors / Senior Quantity Surveyors to join the team.

You may support the Project Team or join the CSA Division as part of its pioneer group, depending on experience and business needs. The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying, with 6–8 years for Senior QS, fresh graduates may apply for the QS position.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.
• Relevant working experience in the construction industry, preferably involving CS works.
• For Senior Quantity Surveyor, 6–8 years of relevant experience in construction and/or property development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BQ), pricing, budgets and cost reports.
• Manage tendering, quotations, subcontractor evaluation and commercial negotiations.
• Monitor and control project costs against approved budgets.
• Handle progress claims, valuations, variation orders and final accounts.
• Manage subcontract agreements and contractual/commercial matters.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, cost analyses and monthly reports.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, project teams, contractors and subcontractors.
• Attend site meetings and conduct site measurements and valuations where required.
• Senior-level candidates may oversee multiple projects and guide junior QS team members.
• For the CSA Division, contribute to establishing effective QS processes, cost controls and commercial practices as part of the pioneer team.

About the role

As part of business expansion, Hong Poh Engineering Construction Sdn Bhd is strengthening the Project Team and building the newly established Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Division. We are looking for Quantity Surveyors / Senior Quantity Surveyors to join the growing team. Successful candidates may support the Project Team or have the opportunity to join the CSA Division as part of its pioneer team, depending on experience, strengths and business requirements. For those joining the new CSA Division, this is an opportunity to be involved from the early stage and contribute to the development of its QS and commercial practices as the division grows.

Key responsibilities

Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BQ), pricing, budgets and cost reports.

About you

Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.

Relevant working experience in the construction industry, preferably involving C&S works, will be an advantage.

For Senior Quantity Surveyor, preferably 6–8 years of relevant experience in construction and/or property development, in line with the Senior QS JD.

Fresh graduates and candidates with fewer years of experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for the Quantity Surveyor position.

Knowledge or exposure in cost estimation, tendering, budgeting, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts will be an advantage.

Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Good analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Proactive, hands‑on and willing to learn and grow with the team.
