About the role

Bina Maju Infra Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction team on a full-time basis, based in Puchong, Selangor. This is a pivotal position within our contracts management division, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing project costs, managing contractual obligations, and ensuring financial viability across our construction projects. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be instrumental in driving value for money, minimising financial risks, and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice throughout project lifecycles.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and managing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects from inception through completion
• Conducting thorough cost analysis and value engineering studies to optimise project spending and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Managing variations, claims, and contract administration matters in accordance with contractual terms and conditions
• Preparing and reviewing bills of quantities (BoQ) and tender documentation for new projects
• Monitoring and controlling project expenditure, ensuring costs remain within approved budgets and financial targets
• Liaising with clients, contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve cost-related issues and disputes
• Preparing monthly cost reports, progress claims, and financial statements for senior management and stakeholders
• Conducting tender analysis and providing recommendations on supplier and contractor selection based on cost and value considerations
• Mentoring and supervising junior quantity surveyors and supporting their professional development
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards, professional codes of conduct, and project contractual requirements
• Procuring for materials, equipment and necessary tools and machinery for site deployment.

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification as a Quantity Surveyor or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Demonstrated expertise in cost estimation, cost control, and financial management of construction projects
• Extensive knowledge of contract administration and variations management under various contract forms (JKM, PAM, IEM, JKR, CIDB, or international standards)
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and procurement practices
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software experience is advantageous)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities with the capacity to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and manage junior staff
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and industry best practices
• Professional indemnity awareness and understanding of risk management in construction projects
• Self initiative, planning and organized oriented
