Chec Construction (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a junior to executive Quantity Surveyor to support tendering, cost estimation, and cost control on construction projects in Kuala Lumpur. You will assist in take-offs, prepare Bills of Quantities, and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotes.
This role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying and 3 years of relevant experience or strong technical knowledge.
This role involves assisting in preparing cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BQ) during the tendering stage for construction projects, reviewing tender documents and specifications, and supporting the Quantity Surveying team in coordinating tender submissions.
Key responsibilities
Assist in preparing cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BQ) during the tendering stage for construction projects
Review tender documents, specifications, and drawings to identify relevant scope and costing requirements
Assist in carrying out quantity take-offs and preparing Bills of Quantities based on project drawings and specifications
Assist in sourcing and obtaining quotations from subcontractors and suppliers for various work packages
Assist in developing unit rates and cost build-ups for tender submissions
Evaluate and compare quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to support tender pricing and cost analysis
Maintain and update costing databases, supplier information, and subcontractor records
Support the QS team in coordinating and preparing tender submissions within the required timeline
Develop a basic understanding of construction methodologies, work sequences, and resource planning for project costing
Assist in reviewing construction schedules and resource allocation to support tender and costing activities
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
3 years of relevant experience preferred; candidates with less experience but strong technical knowledge may also be considered
Basic knowledge of Quantity Surveying principles, construction practices, and industry standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Quantity Surveying software or relevant costing tools
Good analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
