CHEC CONSTRUCTION (M) SDN BHD is seeking a Quantity Surveyor in Kuching. The role involves preparing interim payments, variation orders, EOTs, and managing subcontractor settlements.
You will handle cost estimates, tender support, and contract administration while coordinating site valuations and measurements. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in quantity surveying, a Bachelor’s degree in QS or equivalent, and familiarity with local subcontractors and regulations.
Interim Payments Progress. Prepare and submit Interim Payment claims to the Client on a monthly basis. Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with contractual terms.
Variation Orders. Prepare and submit cost estimates for Variation Orders. Coordinate with relevant parties to assess, justify, and finalize variations.
Extension of Time (EOT). Prepare Extension of Time applications with necessary supporting documents. Justify delays based on site conditions, client instructions, or unforeseen events.
Subcontractor Coordination. Prepare formal letters and correspondence to subcontractors regarding work instructions, payments, claims, and contractual matters. Verify subcontractors’ claims and issue payment certificates accordingly.
Progress Payments & Claims. Request and coordinate payment for completed works at various project stages. Verify and evaluate subcontractor claims monthly.
Tender Management. Assist in the preparation of tender documents and manage the tendering process. Evaluate tender submissions and provide recommendations for contractor selection.
Contract Administration. Prepare draft Letters of Award (LOA) and subcontract agreements. Review and check contract documents for completeness and compliance. Collect quotations and prepare detailed price comparison sheets.
Site Works & Coordination. Attend site valuations, measurements, and meetings as necessary. Prepare Minutes of Meetings when required.
Quantity Take-offs. Accurately take off quantities from construction drawings for costing and procurement purposes
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years of working experience and preferably experience in China Construction Company.
Must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree and above in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
QS post for both Pre & Post Contract works in Building Construction and have the experience of settlement with Subcontractor and Main Contractor, or Client.
Knowledge of construction methods, costing summary, and materials budget handling skills, and better have the subcontractor's resources in Kuching.
Demonstrate innovative approaches to problem-solving and an ability to negotiate across the various levels of any construction environment.
Proactive and able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
Able to prioritize and respond with an appropriate level of urgency.
Highly reliable and responsible, and confident in handling data.
Able to work full time in Kuching and have QS experience in Kuching for at least 2 years.
Preferably candidates with passionate and the hometown Kuching.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
Hardworking and able to work under tight schedules and meet deadlines.
Familiar with Microsoft Project & AutoCAD.
