Job summary

SGS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead tender pricing, cost estimation, and commercial analysis in our construction sector unit in Kuala Lumpur.

You will review tender drawings, prepare cost build-ups, identify cost risks, negotiate with subcontractors, and present pricing summaries for management review. Diploma holders with 3+ years' experience in construction are ideal.

Qualifications

• Pre-tender role experience is preferred
• Pricing material development and market/competitor pricing analysis experience
• Fluent in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken)

Responsibilities

• Review tender drawings, specifications, BOQ, contract conditions and other tender documents
• Prepare detailed tender pricing and project cost estimates
• Carry out quantity take-off and verify quantities based on drawings, specifications and BOQ
• Develop rates and cost build-ups for materials, labour, plant, subcontract works and preliminaries
• Analyse construction methodology and project requirements to identify cost implications
• Identify discrepancies, omissions, ambiguities and commercial risks in tender documents
• Prepare tender summaries, cost comparisons and pricing analysis for management review
• Prepare RFQs and obtain quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors
• Evaluate and compare quotations, including scope, exclusions and commercial qualifications
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing

Key responsibilities

About you

Diploma/Politeknik in any field

Minimum 3 years of working experience in the construction industry

Fluent in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia (both written and spoken)

Responsible in Pre-tender role, familiar with pricing material development, market and competitor pricing analysis

Good attitude and teamwork skills

Understand well all the quantity surveyor duties and the method to execute it

Capable and efficient in handling tasks
