Jora Malaysia is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs, contracts, claims and commercial matters from pre-construction through project completion. You will prepare cost estimates, take-offs, tender documents, review subcontractor appointments, and monitor budgets, while ensuring contractual compliance and value for money.

Candidates should have a Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, with 3–4 years of experience, and be proficient in Excel and QS

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and quantity surveying software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, Bills of Quantities and tender documents.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
  • Source quotations and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare tender comparisons and recommend subcontractors.
  • Review and manage subcontractor contracts and purchase orders.
  • Prepare and submit progress claims, variation orders and EOT documents.
  • Monitor costs, cash flow and budget performance.
  • Attend site meetings and commercial discussions.
  • Prepare final accounts and assist with commercial close-out.

Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing project costs, contracts, claims and commercial matters from pre-construction through project completion. The role ensures that construction projects are delivered within budget while maintaining contractual compliance and protecting the company’s commercial interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, Bills of Quantities and tender documents.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs based on construction drawings and specifications.
  • Source quotations and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare tender comparisons and recommend suitable subcontractors.
  • Review and manage subcontractor appointments, contracts and purchase orders.
  • Prepare and submit progress claims, variation orders and extension-of-time supporting documents.
  • Evaluate subcontractor progress claims and recommend payments.
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, cash flow and budget performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of measurements, site instructions and variations.
  • Attend site meetings, progress meetings and commercial discussions.
  • Conduct site measurements and verify completed works.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts and project financial updates.
  • Manage contractual correspondence and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
  • Prepare final accounts and negotiate the settlement of outstanding claims.
  • Support project handover and commercial close-out.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • AT LEAST 3-4 Years of Experience.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, materials, contracts and cost-control practices.
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Familiar with tendering, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying or measurement software.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Able to manage deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to travel to project sites when required.
