Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia seeks a Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs and ensure budgets are met across construction assignments.

You will prepare BOQ, cost estimates, tender documents, and progress claims, evaluate subcontractor quotations, monitor variation orders, and support contract administration. Applicants should have 2–5 years’ experience, a relevant degree, and strong Excel and estimating software skills. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of quantity measurement, costing, tendering and contract administration.
• Experience in preparing BOQ, tender documents, progress claims and variation orders.
• Able to read construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Good knowledge of construction materials, subcontractor pricing and project costs.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with QS/estimating software.
• Able to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Willing to travel to project sites when required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor project costs to ensure budgets are met.
• Prepare BOQ, cost estimates, tender documents and quotations.
• Source, evaluate and compare quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and evaluate tender submissions, progress claims and payment certificates.
• Monitor Variation Orders, additional works and contractual claims.
• Conduct regular site visits to verify progress and quantities.
• Maintain cost reports and cost analyses.
• Assist in contract administration, including subcontractor management.
• Liaise with project teams and suppliers on commercial matters.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support value engineering.
• Ensure proper documentation for commercial and contractual matters.
• Ensure all measurements and claims are accurate and supported.
