Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Quantity Surveyor in Penang, Malaysia. The role covers study of construction plans, material takeoffs, site valuations, progress claims, and subcontractor payments.

Qualifications

• Possess at least a Certificate, Diploma, Advanced, Higher, Graduate Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveyor or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in the related field of construction
• Good negotiation skills, able to revise cost and quotation if/when required
• Computer literate with proficiency in major Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Excel
• Proficient in MS Project
• Able to work independently with minimum guidance and under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Basic knowledge of contractual matters
• Confident, proactive, able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and problem-solving
• Good written and fluent communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English
• Good time management

Responsibilities

• Study construction plans and taking off material needs
• Attend to site valuation and measurement based on work done on site and verify monthly claims related to the project
• Prepare and submit progress claim and process sub-con claim for payment
• Maintain a filing system to ensure the traceability of documents at all times
• Handle all contractual matters related to the execution of the construction contracts
• Liaise with the client, consultants and other construction professionals, such as Site Managers, Project Managers and Site Engineers
• Prepare BQ, quotation, work order for the project
• Prepare material submission
• Attend site meeting when necessary
