Job summary

Pembinaan Setia Lestari Sdn Bhd seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee cost control and contractual aspects across construction and civil works. The role is based in Kuching with regular visits to the Betong Youth Academy project, ensuring accurate cost reporting and on-time budgeting.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to keep projects financially on track from tender to final account.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction management, civil engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience as Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction/civil works.
• Strong ability in BOQ preparation, take-off, and reading drawings/specifications.
• Proficient with MS Excel, AutoCAD and cost-management software.
• Familiar with contract forms, procurement methods and local regulations.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review BOQ and cost estimates for construction and civil projects.
• Measure and value completed site works to support payment claims and final accounts.
• Monitor costs against budget and report variances to management.
• Evaluate and process variation orders and contract claims.
• Prepare tender documentation ensuring accuracy and client compliance.
• Support procurement by liaising with contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
• Advise on commercial risk and cost-control improvements.
• Maintain organized records of cost and contractual documentation.

Job description

As Senior Quantity Surveyor at Pembinaan Setia Lestari Sdn Bhd, you will manage the cost and contractual aspects of our construction and civil works projects, working from our Kuching office with regular site visits to our Betong Youth Academy project. Success in this role looks like accurate, on-time cost reporting, well-managed budgets and variations, and tender documentation that consistently meets client requirements. This position sits at the center of our project delivery, working closely with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to keep every project financially on track from tender through to final account.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and detailed cost estimates for construction and civil works projects
• Measure and value completed site works to support interim payment claims and final accounts
• Monitor project costs against budget and report on variances to project managers and management
• Evaluate and process variation orders and contract claims
• Prepare and submit tender documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements
• Support procurement activities, including liaising with contractors, suppliers, and consultants
• Advise the project team on commercial risk and contribute to improving cost control processes
• Maintain organized, accurate records of all cost and contractual documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction, civil works, or related industries
• Strong skills in BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, and interpreting drawings and specifications
• Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and relevant cost management or quantity surveying software
• Familiarity with standard forms of contracts, procurement methods, and local regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Own transport required, for travel between the Kuching office and the Betong site
