Job summary

Upsite Down Studio is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Kuala Lumpur construction team. You will manage project costs, budgets and procurement to ensure on-time delivery within budget and high quality standards.

The role requires 3-5 years in construction, proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office, and knowledge of Malaysian contracts and regulations. We value meticulous work, strong negotiation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• RICS/BQS or equivalent Malaysian qualification desirable.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, preferably within Malaysia.
• Strong proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
• Solid understanding of Malaysia construction contracts and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects at various stages of development.
• Conduct thorough cost analysis and feasibility studies to support project planning and decision-making.
• Manage project budgets and monitor expenditure to ensure financial targets are met throughout the construction process.
• Procure materials, equipment and services, negotiating with suppliers to achieve best value for money.
• Conduct site inspections and measurements to verify quantities and assess project progress.
• Prepare variation orders and contract documentation related to cost and financial matters.
• Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers and clients to provide timely financial reports and cost forecasts.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all cost-related information and contractual matters.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions.

About the role

Upsite Down Studio is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction team. This is a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur, where you will play a crucial role in managing project costs, budgets and resources. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimations, financial planning and procurement support across our construction projects. This position is integral to ensuring our projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, or relevant tertiary qualification in construction management or built environment
• Membership with a recognised professional body such as RICS, BQS or equivalent Malaysian qualification is highly desirable
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, preferably within Malaysia
• Strong proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office applications
• Solid understanding of construction contracts, procurement practices and building regulations in Malaysia
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to tight deadlines
