Job summary

Indium Corporation is seeking a Quality Staff Engineer in Penang, Malaysia, to support the Quality Manager in leading daily QA operations and ensuring conformance to customer and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor QA staff, drive 8D, corrective actions, audits, and continuous improvement, and work with Production and Engineering to prevent recurrence and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• 5+ years in QA leadership within a multinational company.
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949; AIAG core tools beneficial.
• Strong communication, leadership and continual improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise QA staff and deploy QMS effectively.
• Manage customer quality, feedback and 8D reports with cross-functional teams.
• Oversee MRB and incoming/outgoing/in-process QC activities.
• Coordinate internal, customer, supplier, and regulatory audits.
• Ensure ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949 compliance and calibration control.
• Lead supplier quality management and data-driven improvement initiatives.
• Support KPI reviews and NPI activities; train QA personnel.
• Act as backup to Quality Manager to ensure leadership continuity.

Job description

The Quality Staff Engineer closely supports MYP Quality Manager in leading daily Quality Assurance operations and ensuring compliance with company, customer, and regulatory quality requirements. The Staff Engineer is expected to provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and guidance to QA personnel to ensure effective execution of quality objectives, ensuring quality conformance of all incoming materials, processes and finished goods meet defined standards to achieve customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITY

• Lead and supervise QA staff to perform QA Department functions with effective deployment of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Responsible for managing customer quality, feedback and complaints (including 8D, failure analysis, corrective action reports, and interfacing with cross-functional regional teams).
• Supervise MRB, nonconforming material, incoming, outgoing and in-process Quality Control processes.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and prevent reoccurrence.
• Responsible for leading, preparing and coordinating internal, customer, supplier and regulatory audits, ensuring timely closure of audit findings and timely response to external parties.
• Ensure effective implementation of Quality and Environment Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949).
• Manage quality laboratories and factory test equipment (including calibration control).
• Lead Supplier Quality Management, including managing subcontractors and vendors.
• Analyze Quality data and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process effectiveness.
• Support Quality Manager to prepare, coordinate and conduct Quality KPI reviews and Management reviews and reporting metrics to HQ.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and qualification activities.
• Support training and competency development of QA personnel on quality standards, procedures, and customer requirements.
• Be the backup to the Quality Manager to always ensure effective decision‑making and leadership continuity.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• At least 5 years of working experience in MNC in quality assurance function with leadership role.
• Working experience of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949 and AIAG core tools. VDA experience would be advantageous.
• Good communication, leadership and motivational skills.
• Strong initiative for continual improvement.
