Job summary

Avalon Electronics Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Quality Engineering Manager to lead the QEMS function across quality engineering, regulatory compliance, supplier quality, and CI initiatives.

You will drive metrics, oversee audits, and mentor a team in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering or quality management, 8-10 years in electronics quality, and 3-5 years in a leadership position overseeing 8-10 staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or related field.
• 8-10 years in quality related roles within electronics/manufacturing.
• 3-5 years in a leadership role managing 8-10 people.
• Certifications such as CQE, ISO Lead Auditor, or Six Sigma Black Belt are advantageous.
• Knowledge on electronics switches, encoders, potentiometers prioritized.
• Mandarin proficiency is a must.

Responsibilities

• Drive site and product quality metrics by tracking, analysing, and reporting defect rates, yields, and customer satisfaction.
• Identify trends, deploy best practices, and initiate continuous improvement projects to boost efficiency and quality.
• Promote structured problem solving (Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Fishbone) for quality issues.
• Lead closure of internal and customer feedback loops; manage CAPA and ensure timely recurrence prevention.
• Manage and develop direct reports (quality engineers/inspectors) and oversee quality operations.
• Oversee Regulatory Compliance (ISO 9001/14001 and local Malaysian standards) and audits.
• Coordinate and lead audits (internal, external certifications, customer audits).
• Evaluate suppliers and perform supplier performance reviews; implement QA for inbound materials.

Job description

Responsible for overseeing the entire quality function within the organization, serving as the QEMS Management Representative. This role involves leading quality engineering, regulatory compliance, supplier quality, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet industry standards, customer expectations and necessary legal compliance. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking in a fast-paced company setting.

Key responsibilities

Drive site and product quality metrics by tracking, analysing, and reporting on key quality metrics such as defect rates, yield percentages, and customer satisfaction scores

Identify trends, deploy best practices across teams, and initiate continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and product quality in the electronics manufacturing process

Promote the use of structured problem-solving techniques (Root Cause Analysis, 8D, or Fishbone diagrams) to address quality issues

Lead the closure of both internal and customer feedback loops, manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and ensure timely execution to prevent recurrence

Manage and develop direct reports including quality engineers and quality inspectors, accountable for their work quality and delivery

Oversee the comprehensive quality operations, including Quality Engineering, Regulatory Compliance (tailored to QEMS requirements such as ISO 9001/14001 or relevant Malaysian standards)

Coordinate and lead all audit activities, including preparation, execution, and follow-up for internal audits, external certifications, and customer audits

Evaluate and qualify suppliers, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement quality assurance protocols for incoming materials and components

Collaborate with procurement to resolve supplier-related issues, ensuring supply chain reliability in the electronics sector

Support NPI projects review, including process validations and cross-functional team collaborations to address emerging quality challenges

About you

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical), Quality Management, or a related field

8-10 years in quality related roles within the electronics or manufacturing industry

3-5 years in a leadership position managing a team of 8-10

Lean and Six Sigma concepts and tools

Data analysis tools

Communication and presentation skills

Ability to lead and multi-task in a dynamic environment

Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ISO Lead Auditor, or Six Sigma Black Belt are advantageous

Knowledge on electronics switch, encoder, potentiometers will be prioritize
