Job summary

Exyte Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a QA/QC Manager to lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover for a hyperscale data center project in Malaysia.

The role ensures compliance with designs, project specs, Malaysian statutory requirements, international standards, client requirements, and Exyte's QMS. Lead the QA/QC team and coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and commissioning teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management or related discipline.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor certification is highly desirable.
• Experience in QA/QC for large-scale data center, mission-critical, or industrial projects is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Quality Management System (QMS).
• Lead QA/QC teams, oversee ITPs, method statements, and inspection documentation.
• Manage design QA, construction QA/QC, testing & commissioning quality, non-conformance actions, and supplier quality.

Key Responsibilities

A. Project Quality Management

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and associated Quality Management System (QMS).

• Establish project-specific QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, checklists, and quality control processes.

• Ensure quality requirements are incorporated into design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

• Establish quality objectives, KPIs, inspection regimes, and performance-monitoring systems.

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, contractual requirements, applicable codes and standards, and client quality requirements.

• Lead project quality meetings and coordinate quality activities across all project disciplines.

• Provide regular quality performance reports to Project Management and senior leadership.

B. Design Quality Assurance

• Work closely with Engineering and Design teams to ensure design deliverables comply with project specifications and quality requirements.

• Establish design QA processes, including design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination, constructability reviews, and design verification.

• Monitor closure of design comments, RFIs, technical queries, and design-related non-conformities.

• Ensure design changes and revisions are properly controlled and communicated to construction teams.

• Support BIM/model coordination and quality reviews where applicable.

• Ensure design deliverables support constructability, commissioning, maintainability, and operational requirements of the hyperscale facility.

C. Construction QA/QC

• Lead and manage QA/QC Engineers, Inspectors, Document Controllers, and discipline-specific quality personnel.

• Oversee inspection and testing activities for civil, structural, architectural, MEP, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, ELV, controls, and specialist systems.

• Review and approve contractor/subcontractor Quality Plans, ITPs, method statements, and inspection documentation.

• Ensure inspections are completed at required hold points, witness points, and surveillance points.

• Monitor workmanship and installation quality against approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.

• Ensure materials and equipment are inspected, verified, and properly documented prior to installation.

• Establish effective material receiving inspection and traceability processes.

• Monitor site quality trends and identify recurring defects or systemic issues.

• Ensure defective or non-conforming work is identified, controlled, corrected, and formally closed.

D. MEP & Data Center Systems Quality

Particular focus shall be placed on the quality of critical data center infrastructure, including:

• Medium- and low-voltage electrical systems.

• Transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS and battery systems.

• Busduct/busway and power distribution systems.

• Mechanical cooling and chilled-water systems.

• CRAC/CRAH and other cooling systems.

• Pumps, heat exchangers, cooling towers and associated systems.

• Fire protection and fire alarm systems.

• BMS, EPMS, EMS and control systems.

• ELV, security and communications systems.

• Structured cabling infrastructure.

• Building envelope and critical environmental controls.

• Redundancy, resilience, maintainability, and critical-path systems.

• Ensure quality requirements are aligned with the project's availability, redundancy, reliability, and operational performance objectives.

E. Testing & Commissioning Quality

• Coordinate QA/QC requirements with the Testing & Commissioning (T&C) team.

• Ensure inspection and testing records are complete and traceable prior to commissioning.

• Establish quality gates for pre-functional testing, functional testing, integrated systems testing (IST), and final acceptance.

• Monitor closure of commissioning-related defects and punch-list items.

• Ensure test results, calibration certificates, commissioning records, and system documentation are properly controlled.

• Support client witnessing, authority inspections, third-party testing, and integrated systems testing.

• Ensure quality documentation is complete prior to system handover.

F. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action

• Establish and manage the project's NCR, observation, snag, punch-list, and corrective‑action processes.

• Review and approve root‑cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

• Monitor NCR trends and identify recurring or systemic quality issues.

• Lead quality improvement initiatives to prevent recurrence.

• Escalate significant quality risks and unresolved issues to Project Management.

• Ensure timely closure and verification of corrective actions.

G. Supplier & Subcontractor Quality

• Participate in prequalification and assessment of critical suppliers and subcontractors.

• Review supplier/subcontractor quality plans and manufacturing quality requirements.

• Establish inspection requirements for critical equipment and long‑lead items.

• Coordinate factory inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), source inspections, and vendor audits.

• Ensure manufacturing documentation, certificates, test reports, and traceability records are maintained.

• Monitor supplier quality performance and initiate corrective actions where required.

H. Audits & Compliance

• Plan and conduct internal, contractor, subcontractor, supplier, and project quality audits.

• Support client, consultant, certification‑body, and regulatory audits.

• Ensure compliance with applicable ISO standards and project‑specific quality requirements.

• Maintain audit findings and corrective‑action registers.

• Promote a proactive quality culture throughout the project.

I. Documentation & Handover

• Ensure all QA/QC documentation is properly prepared, reviewed, approved, and maintained.

• Oversee preparation of the project Quality dossier and final handover documentation.

• Ensure as‑built drawings, inspection records, test certificates, material certificates, calibration records, commissioning records, warranties, and certificates are complete.

• Coordinate with Document Control to ensure quality records are properly indexed and retrievable.

• Establish quality documentation requirements for final client handover and operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline.

• Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in quality management are preferred.

• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor certification is highly desirable.

• Relevant QA/QC certifications such as ASQ, CQI, IRCA, or equivalent are advantageous.

• Additional specialist certifications relevant to electrical, mechanical, welding, testing, commissioning, or construction quality are advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 12-15 years of relevant QA/QC experience, preferably with significant experience in large-scale MEP, mission‑critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, industrial, or data center projects.

• Proven experience managing QA/QC for major hyperscale or mission‑critical data center projects.

• Experience in a design‑and‑build, EPC, EPCM, or major general‑contractor environment.

• Strong experience across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.

• Experience managing multidisciplinary QA/QC teams and major specialist subcontractors.

• Experience with critical MEP systems and integrated systems testing is highly desirable.

• Experience working directly with international clients, consultants, contractors, and equipment manufacturers.

• Malaysia project experience and knowledge of local statutory requirements are strongly preferred.
