Job summary

Exentec Services Malaysia is seeking a Project Manager to lead design and build base build projects from concept through handover, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and quality align with client requirements and regulations.

The role requires coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams while overseeing cost control, risk management, and progress reporting to maintain a strong governance and safety culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant project management experience, preferably in design and build.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale base build projects, e.g., data centers or mission‑critical facilities.
• Experience guiding projects from design through construction, commissioning and handover.
• PM certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is an advantage.

Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, management, coordination, and successful delivery of design and build base build projects for Exentec Services Malaysia.

The role will lead the project from design development through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements, approved design, quality standards, and applicable regulations.

The Project Manager will provide leadership to the project team and coordinate closely with the client, consultants, contractors, suppliers, authorities, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall design and build project from concept/design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Develop and manage project objectives, scope, programme, budget, resources, and delivery strategy.
• Lead and coordinate the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, HSE, Quality, and commercial teams.
• Manage the design development process and ensure design deliverables meet project requirements, specifications, programme, and budget.
• Coordinate with the client, consultants, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
• Monitor construction progress, identify potential delays and risks, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensure all project activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Manage project cost, variations, procurement, contracts, and commercial matters in coordination with the relevant teams.
• Establish and maintain effective project controls, including programme, progress reporting, risk management, and change control.
• Lead project meetings, progress reviews, coordination meetings, and client meetings.
• Ensure HSE requirements are implemented throughout the project and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, project completion, and handover activities.
• Manage project risks, issues, changes, and stakeholder expectations.
• Ensure timely closure of defects, punch-list items, and outstanding works.
• Review and approve project documentation, reports, and key deliverables as required.
• Provide regular project status updates to senior management and the client.
• Drive successful project completion and achieve the required quality, schedule, cost, and client satisfaction objectives.

Education and Skill

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant project management experience, preferably in design and build projects.
• Proven experience managing large-scale base build projects, preferably data center, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, industrial, or other mission-critical facilities.
• Experience managing projects from design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Strong knowledge of MEP, construction, project controls, procurement, contracts, and commissioning processes.
• Strong understanding of design and build project delivery, construction methodologies, and project management practices.
• Good knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, risk management, change management, and contract administration.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple contractors and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to project delivery.
• Good understanding of Malaysian construction regulations, statutory requirements, and HSE practices.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is an advantage.
• Experience working with international clients, consultants, contractors, and multinational project teams is preferred.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
