Job summary

PMX Malaysia Sdn Bhd invites an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering aspects of data centre projects, guiding planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning to ensure safe, on-time delivery.

You will review designs, manage installation, monitor progress, coordinate with consultants and vendors, ensure QA/QC and EHS compliance, and deliver comprehensive handover packages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
• 8–10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, construction, or project delivery, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role.
• Proven experience in delivering data centre, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee project planning, engineering, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning, and closeout activities.
• Review and coordinate mechanical designs, shop drawings, method statements, technical submissions, and construction documents.
• Manage installation and construction activities for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Monitor site progress against project schedules, budgets, and key milestones, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, QA/QC, client standards, and regulatory requirements throughout project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to site teams and subcontractors.
• Lead mechanical testing, commissioning, integrated system testing (IST), and system handover activities.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage project variations, technical issues, and design changes, escalating where necessary.
• Prepare and present project progress reports, technical reports, and meeting minutes to management and clients.
• Support tendering activities, technical evaluations, cost reviews, and value engineering initiatives.
• Manage project closeout activities, including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, and final handover packages.
• Drive continuous improvement, best practices, and quality delivery across all mechanical works.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

Requirements

Proven experience in delivering data centre, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects.

Knowledge of Testing & Commissioning (T&C) processes, including preparation of testing procedures, commissioning plans, and system handover requirements.

Familiarity with QA/QC standards, EHS requirements, local regulations, and industry best practices.

Ability to review technical documents, installation methodologies, engineering drawings, and construction specifications.

Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and project management tools.

Willing to travel and be based at project sites as required.
