Job summary

A well-known oil manufacturing firm in Penang seeks a purchasing officer to manage sourcing and supplier relationships. The role involves negotiation, issuing Purchase Orders, and resolving quality issues with suppliers. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related fields, along with 2-3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing. Qualifications

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Manage sourcing, price negotiation and development of new supplier.
  • Responsible for issuing and follow up on Purchase Orders, delivery updates and shipment schedules with vendors.
  • Capable of resolving issues related to quality, service and invoicing with suppliers.
  • Acts as a technical interface between BU / Product Engineers and Suppliers – communicates components/assembly/product specifications to suppliers, assesses supplier's overall performance and provides feedback.
  • Source suitable suppliers or contractors for spare parts and repair & maintenance jobs.
  • Responsible for the purchases allocated to the candidates and ensure adherence to the company purchasing guidelines and policies.
  • Perform other tasks and jobs assigned by superior as and when needed in alignment with company objectives and goals.
Requirements
  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technical, Mechanical Engineering preferred, or any other relevant field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Purchasing with experience in a manufacturing environment is an added advantage.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills; preferably experienced in sourcing machine spare parts, fabrication, electronic components, and dealing with contractors on repair & maintenance jobs.
