Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Purchaser to manage procurement for civil, marine, and dredging projects. You will source, evaluate, negotiate with suppliers, issue POs, and ensure timely deliveries to sites.

You'll collaborate with project teams, monitor vendor performance, maintain approved supplier lists, and stay updated on market trends while ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 1–3 years of purchasing experience in civil engineering, marine, or dredging construction industries.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of cost savings and supplier development.
• Familiarity with construction materials, marine equipment, dredging consumables, and project-based procurement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement software (e.g., SAP, AutoCount, or similar).
• Strong sense of urgency, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and procure materials, equipment, and services related to civil engineering, marine, and dredging works.
• Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing, credit terms, and reliable delivery schedules.
• Issue and manage Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure accurate material forecasting and timely deliveries to site.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain an approved vendor list.
• Keep abreast of market trends, product developments, and cost changes.
• Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure efficient supply chain flow.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
