Job summary

Khean Seng Engineering Sdn Bhd is hiring a Procurement professional in Penang to manage supplier relationships, negotiate prices, and process purchase orders for building materials and construction needs. The role emphasizes cost savings, compliance with specifications, and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate will contribute to supplier evaluations, maintain quality and delivery performance, and participate in ISO-related activities while communicating in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and English.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing within the construction/materials sector.
• Must communicate in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and English.
• Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Business Studies/Administration/Management or equivalent.
• Junior Executive level preferred; experience in purchasing/inventory/material management.
• Experience reviewing supplier prices, negotiating, and placing POs.
• ISO involvement is required.

Responsibilities

• Review supplier prices and negotiate price adjustments.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and obtain competitive quotes.
• Process purchase orders, issue POs and place orders with suppliers.
• Update and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
• Plan delivery schedules and liaise with transporter (advised by sub-contractor).
• Build good rapport with suppliers and ensure alignment with engineering/specifications.
• Identify opportunities for margins and ensure purchases meet construction specs.
• Undertake other related duties as assigned by superiors.

Job description

Min 5 yrs experience to building material and construction industry

To build good rapport with supplier.

Responsible to ensure goods are purchased according to min Engineering and Construction specifications.

Review supplier price and negotiate with supplier for price adjustment, and so identify and qualify opportunities for cost savings with an overall focus on margins.

Identify cost reduction opportunities and conduct market validations of current arrangements by obtaining competitive quotes and/or proposal.

Responsible for processing purchase orders, issue PO and placing orders to suppliers.

Continuously source for relevant supplier and responsible for negotiating pricing.

Understand seasonality, end user product and time sensitivity requirements.

Update and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.

Plan delivery schedule and liaise with transporter. (advised by sub-contractor).

Participate in company ISO is required.

To undertake other related duties as assigned by the superior from time to time.

Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least Higher Secondary/STPM/"A" Level/Pre-U, Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Business Studies/Administration/Management or equivalent.

Required language(s): Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, English. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

At least 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

Preferably Junior Executive specialized in Purchasing/Inventory/Material & Warehouse Management or equivalent.
