Job summary

CK BUILDING SOLUTIONS SDN BHD is seeking a Project Planner to oversee planning, scheduling and progress monitoring for building and civil construction projects in Malaysia.

The role involves developing and maintaining schedules, tracking progress, identifying delays and coordinating with project managers and site teams to meet timelines and contractual requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Proficient in MS Project for planning, scheduling and progress monitoring.
• Strong understanding of CPM, project milestones and resource planning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop and maintain project schedules.
• Prepare baseline programmes, detailed schedules, look-ahead schedules and milestones.
• Monitor actual progress and identify delays, risks and potential disruptions.
• Perform CPM analysis to identify critical activities and their impact.
• Prepare progress reports, S-curves, schedule variance reports and progress presentations.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders to obtain progress updates.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure schedules reflect site conditions and progress.
• Identify delays and recommend corrective actions and recovery plans.

Job description

We are looking for a Project Planner to join our project team and oversee project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring for our building and civil construction projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring work progress, identifying potential delays and coordinating with the project team to ensure projects are completed according to the approved timeline and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, develop and maintain project schedules in accordance with project scope, contract requirements and construction timelines.

Prepare baseline programmes, detailed project schedules, look-ahead schedules and project milestones.

Monitor actual project progress against planned schedules and identify delays, risks and potential programme disruptions.

Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis to identify critical activities and monitor their impact on overall project completion.

Prepare and update project progress reports, S-curves, schedule variance reports and progress presentations.

Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders to obtain project progress updates.

Monitor construction activities and ensure project schedules reflect actual site conditions and work progress.

Identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions and recovery plans to maintain project timelines.

Assist in preparing recovery programmes, Extension of Time (EOT) applications and supporting project documentation.

Attend project meetings and provide updates on project progress, key milestones, delays and outstanding activities.

Monitor manpower, materials, equipment and resource requirements in relation to project schedules.

Maintain proper records of project programmes, progress updates and planning documentation.

Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating and monitoring overall project execution.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related field.

Minimum 3–4 years of relevant experience in construction project planning and scheduling.

Proficient in Microsoft Project (MS Project) for project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring.

Good understanding of construction sequences, project milestones, Critical Path Method (CPM) and resource planning.

Experience in preparing baseline schedules, detailed project programmes, look-ahead schedules and S-curves.

Able to monitor project progress, identify schedule delays and recommend appropriate recovery measures.

Good understanding of construction methods, site operations and project coordination.

Experience with building, civil, structural or infrastructure projects is an advantage.

Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work closely with project and site teams.

Detail-oriented, proactive and able to work independently under pressure.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.

Candidates with relevant construction planning experience and strong technical knowledge may also be considered.
