Job summary

Tuah Bersatu Jaya Sdn Bhd in Sabah is seeking a Project Planner to join our construction team on a full-time basis. You will develop and maintain project schedules, allocate resources, and coordinate with site teams to ensure on-time project delivery.

The ideal candidate has a diploma or degree in construction management or related field, at least 3 years of planning experience, and proficiency with MS Project or Primavera P6. English fluency is required; Malay knowledge is a plus.

About the role We are seeking a talented Project Planner to join our team on a full-time basis based in Sabah. This is a pivotal position within our construction operations, playing a crucial role in the successful delivery of our projects. As Project Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising project schedules, resource allocation and timelines. Your strategic planning expertise will directly impact project success, stakeholder satisfaction and our company's reputation for delivering exceptional results in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, create and manage comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard planning software and methodologies
• Conduct detailed schedule analysis and produce regular progress reports comparing planned timelines against actual performance
• Identify scheduling risks, constraints and bottlenecks, proposing practical mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines
• Collaborate with project managers, site teams and stakeholders to ensure schedules are realistic, achievable and aligned with project objectives
• Manage resource planning and allocation, optimising workforce deployment across multiple projects
• Prepare and update baseline schedules, tracking changes and maintaining comprehensive project documentation
• Conduct variance analysis and develop corrective action plans to address schedule deviations
• Communicate scheduling information clearly to project teams, management and clients through regular reports and presentations
• Monitor project milestones and critical path activities to ensure timely completion of project phases
• Support tender and bidding processes by providing accurate scheduling assessments and resource requirements

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years' professional experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction industry
• Advanced proficiency with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or equivalent planning tools
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project delivery approaches and industry best practices
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions to scheduling challenges
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, including site management, engineers and senior stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management capabilities
• Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to produce clear, professional reports and presentations
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Malay or local languages is advantageous
• Valid driving licence and willingness to visit construction sites regularly
• Professional certification such as PMI-CP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualifications would be highly valued
