Job summary

U-Teknik Trading Sdn Bhd in Bukit Minyak, Penang, is seeking a Project Estimator to join our Engineering team. This full-time role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals to support competitive pricing and profitability.

You will review drawings and documents, perform quantity take-offs, prepare BOQs, and collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather inputs. Proficiency in estimating software and Excel is essential, with a diploma or degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and team player.
• 1-2 years experience; fresh graduates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using estimating tools.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and other team members to gather information for estimations.
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Update estimation databases and cost records for accuracy.
• Review and validate estimates before submission.
• Prepare bid proposals and tender documents.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for project optimisation.
• Support sales and business development with pricing information and viability assessments.

About the role

U-Teknik Trading Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented Project Estimator to join our Engineering team in Bukit Minyak, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our electrical and electronic engineering operations. As a Project Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and project proposals, which are fundamental to our bid preparation process and project planning. This position is essential to ensuring our projects are competitively priced whilst maintaining profitability and quality standards.

What you'll be doing

• Review project drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using industry-standard tools and software.
• Collaborating with project managers, engineers and other team members to gather necessary information for accurate estimations
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Maintaining and updating estimation databases and cost records to ensure historical accuracy
• Reviewing and validating estimates for completeness and accuracy before submission
• Preparing bid proposals and tender documents in a clear, professional format
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and providing recommendations for project optimisation
• Responsible for overall project drawing and documentation
• Supporting the sales and business development teams with pricing information and project viability assessments

What we’re looking for

• Candidate must possess at least Diploma/Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Highly adaptable, self-motivated and team player.
• 1-2 year experience (Fresh graduate is encouraged to apply)
