Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Cost Estimator (LV/MV Switchboard or Electrical Switchgear) to support cost analysis, tendering, and BOQ preparation for LV/MV switchboard projects. The role involves reviewing drawings, preparing quotations, and liaising with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Sales teams to ensure feasible estimates.

The candidate should have a Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 4–5 years of relevant cost estimation experience, strong Excel skills, and

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, preferably in the manufacturing of LV switchboards or electrical switchgear.
• Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, switchgear components, electrical drawings, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimation software; knowledge of AutoCAD is an added advantage.
• Mandarin-speaking candidates are required to liaise effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

• Support tender preparation, submission activities, and participate in client discussions and negotiations when required.

Cost Estimator (LV/MV Switchboard or Electrical Switchgear)

Review and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements for Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchboard projects.

Prepare detailed cost estimation, quotations, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in accordance with project specifications and customer requirements.

Source, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and cost efficiency.

Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Sales teams to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of project estimates.

Support tender preparation, submission activities, and participate in client discussions and negotiations when required.

Maintain and update costing databases, material prices, and labour rates to reflect current market conditions.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to value engineering initiatives without compromising quality and compliance.

Ensure all estimates comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Prepare and submit estimation reports and documentation within project timelines.

Requirements:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, preferably in the manufacturing of Low Voltage (LV) switchboards or electrical switchgear.

Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, switchgear components, electrical drawings, and manufacturing processes.
