Job summary

VS Industry Bhd is seeking a Project Engineer to lead SMT/PCBA, injection and assembly projects in Malaysia. You will act as the primary technical liaison with customers, oversee NPI to mass production, review drawings and BOMs, and coordinate tooling and process trials.

The role requires close collaboration with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Polymer, or Plastic Engineering.
• Experience in project engineering, NPI or manufacturing engineering preferred.
• Good understanding of NPI and manufacturing processes.
• Able to read engineering drawings, BOMs and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical liaison with customers from handover through NPI and mass production.

• Review drawings, BOMs, and specifications for feasibility and requirements.
• Coordinate tooling, trials, samples, and engineering changes.

• Prepare project documentation including drawings, ECN, BOM, and reports.
• Support NPI transfer and mass production readiness, and drive improvements.

Job Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical liaison with customers from project handover through NPI, customer approval, and mass production.
• Lead and coordinate new projects, ensuring project timelines, quality, cost, and customer requirements are achieved.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, BOM, and product requirements to assess manufacturing feasibility and technical requirements.
• Coordinate tooling, process trials, sample submissions, product fitting, functional testing, and engineering changes.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Tooling, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project implementation.
• Monitor project progress, resolve technical issues, and provide regular project status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including engineering drawings, ECN, BOM, submission documents, reports, and other manufacturing-related records.
• Support NPI transfer, mass production readiness, and continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, reduce cycle time, and minimize rejection rates.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Polymer, Plastic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Project Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, or related roles within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in SMT/PCBA, plastic injection moulding, assembly, electronics manufacturing, or related industries will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of NPI and manufacturing processes, with the ability to evaluate technical and production requirements.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings, product specifications, BOM, and engineering documents is an advantage.
• Strong project coordination, problem-solving, communication, analytical, and time-management skills.
• Willing to work in Senai, Johor and able to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
