Job summary

JYG Holding in Malaysia seeks a Senior Engineer/Assistant Manager for SMT R&D and Product Development to lead projects from concept through NPI to mass production. You will guide DFMs, PFMEAs, and ECN/ECO processes while coordinating with production, QA, and customers in a fast-paced EMS setting.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in SMT manufacturing or R&D, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor a growing engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years in SMT Manufacturing or R&D.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes: P&P, SPI, AOI, Reflow.
• Experience with NPI, PFMEA, Process Validation, ECN/ECO.
• Familiar with quality systems and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and Mandarin preferred.

Senior Engineer/Assistant Manager–R&D Product Development

Lead SMT R&D and product development projects from concept, prototype, NPI to mass production.

Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and ensure smooth product transfer into production.

Review customer requirements, PCB drawings, BOM, Gerber files, specifications, and engineering documents.

Evaluate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and provide technical recommendations to improve manufacturability and product quality.

Develop, optimize, and validate SMT manufacturing processes to improve quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

Conduct engineering evaluations, product trials, process validation, and failure analysis.

Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for engineering-related issues.

Coordinate engineering change requests (ECN/ECO) and ensure proper documentation control.

Work closely with Production, Process Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and customers throughout the product development cycle.

Provide technical support during customer visits, audits, and project discussions.

Lead and mentor the engineering team while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Prepare engineering reports, project schedules, technical documentation, and presentations for Management.

Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in SMT Manufacturing, R&D, Product Development, NPI, or Manufacturing Engineering.

Strong knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes, including:

AOI

Reflow Oven

Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Product Development, DFM, PFMEA, Process Validation, and Engineering Change Management.

Familiar with SMT production processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project management, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Able to work independently and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Mandarin proficiency is preferred as this role requires frequent communication with Mandarin-speaking Management, customers, and overseas counterparts.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) environment.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, IPC Standards, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949 is an added advantage.

Experience handling customer projects, product transfers, and manufacturing process optimization.
