Job summary

Tasek Corporation Berhad, Ipoh, Malaysia, is seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate mechanical and civil interfaces from design to closeout. You will monitor progress, ensure quality and safety, and liaise with contractors and vendors across disciplines.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience, with strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to interpret drawings and P&IDs. Proactive budgeting, tender support and proper documentation are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate project activities from design through closeout.

Job description

Key responsibilities

Plan and coordinate project activities from design and procurement through installation, commissioning and closeout.

Conduct site inspections and monitor work progress, schedules, quality and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.

Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors and internal departments to resolve technical issues and follow up on outstanding matters.

Monitor project costs, CAPEX expenditure and budgets, and highlight potential overruns or delays.

Support tendering and procurement activities, including quotation review, technical evaluation and vendor coordination.

Prepare, review and update engineering drawings, layouts, P&IDs and as‑built drawings using AutoCAD.

Review vendor and consultant drawings and provide technical input where required.

Prepare progress reports, meeting minutes and maintain project, drawing and approval records.

Support project closeout, asset capitalization and relevant documentation.

Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, ISO, 5S and statutory requirements.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

Preferably 3–5 years of relevant engineering/project experience, preferably in manufacturing, cement, process plant or heavy industrial environments.

Experience in project execution, site coordination, equipment installation, modification and commissioning.

Proficient in AutoCAD and able to read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts and P&IDs.

Experience in CAPEX, cost monitoring, budget control and project documentation.

Familiar with tender preparation, technical bid evaluation, quotation review and vendor documentation.

Good understanding of engineering, safety, quality and statutory requirements.

Strong project planning, coordination, communication and problem‑solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel; knowledge of MS Project is an advantage.

Professional engineering certification/registration is an added advantage.

Establish to answer the nation's demand for cement, Tasek Corporation Berhad was incorporated in 1962 as Tasek Cement Limited and listed on the stock exchange the following year. It commenced cement production in 1964 with an annual rated production capacity of 250,000 tonnes at its present plant in the Tasek Industrial Estate, Ipoh against the backdrop of scenic limestone hills and excellent infrastructure. Since then, Tasek had embarked on a series of multi-million ringgit expansions in tandem with the country's development, culminating in the latest rehabilitation and expansion programme designed to increase the plant's annual clinker production to 2.3 million tonnes per year

Cement is produced at the Company's plant in Ipoh which operates 24 hours a day. Cement is then transported by road or rail direct to the users. Cement is also sent to its packing and distribution terminal at Sungai Buloh for storage, packing and channelling to strategic distribution centres and to users in the Central and Southern regions. Tasek is also an active member of the Cement and Concrete Association of Malaysia or the C&CA, contributing to defining the direction and growth of cement manufacturers in Malaysia.
