Job summary

KMWE is seeking a project-oriented engineer to manage end-to-end lifecycle from initiation to mass production in Penang. You will coordinate across Design, Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to ensure deliverables meet requirements.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/E&E engineering with 2+ years in product design or manufacturing engineering, and proficiency in NX/CATIA, GD&T and FMEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics or E&E engineering.
• 2+ years related experience or equivalent.
• Experience in product design or manufacturing engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of project management, NPI and SOPs
• BOM, TPD, ECN, FMEA, GD&T
• Proficient in Unigraphics NX and CATIA V5
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end project lifecycle from initiation to mass production, including scope, schedule, resources, risks and costs.
• Coordinate with Design, Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
• Review customer requirements, engineering drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturing feasibility.
• Provide engineering support for assembly methods, manufacturing processes and production cycle time improvement.
• Prepare and maintain process flow, work instructions, control plans and other project-related documentation.
• Act as the key contact for customers on project status, technical matters and engineering changes.
• Liaise with suppliers on material procurement, component validation and subcontracted processes.
• Conduct design reviews and coordinate customer approvals where required.
• Support NPI, process validation, corrective actions and implementation of engineering changes.
• Work with Quality to resolve non-conformities and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.
• Support make-or-buy decisions through cost-benefit analysis.
• Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time and minimize waste.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties and ad-hoc assignments as assigned by the superior.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical & Electronic Engineering; or
• 2 years or more of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in product design and/or manufacturing engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of Project Management, NPI and engineering standard operating procedures.
• Good knowledge of BOM, TPD, ECN, FMEA and GD&T.
• Proficient in Unigraphics NX and CATIA V5.
• Strong analytical and investigative mindset with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external customers.
• Confident, proactive and able to take ownership of projects and manage challenging situations.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
