Job summary

Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is setting up a new manufacturing plant in Kulim, Kedah and is looking for a talented Purchasing professional. You will source, request quotations, negotiate locally, and develop a reliable supplier base to support production needs.

Key duties include issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, cost control, and coordinating with production and warehouse teams. You will report data to China HQ and ensure compliance with local duties and taxes.

Qualifications

• Malaysian
• Able to communicate in Mandarin or English; Mandarin speakers preferred to work with China HQ
• Purchasing experience in a manufacturing company; overseas purchasing is an advantage
• Familiar with local purchasing processes, payment terms and import duties
• Knowledge of suppliers in Penang or northern region is an advantage
• Detail-oriented, responsible, and cost- and risk-conscious
• Able to work in a multicultural team
• Good computer skills (Excel and email)

Responsibilities

• Source, request quotations, compare prices and negotiate for local materials, consumables, and equipment spare parts
• Develop, evaluate and maintain a reliable local supplier base
• Issue purchase orders and follow up on delivery schedules so production materials arrive on time
• Control purchasing cost and keep supplier records up to date
• Handle delivery delays and quality issues with suppliers, and coordinate with production and warehouse teams
• Report purchasing data to China HQ and follow HQ purchasing procedures, adapted to local practice
• Manage payment terms and understand local duties and taxes related to purchasing

Job Responsibilities

Source, request quotations, compare prices and negotiate for local materials, consumables, and equipment spare parts
