MAPEI Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Nilai is seeking a Procurement & Planning Manager to lead supplier qualification, negotiate terms, and coordinate material deliveries to support production.

You will optimize raw and packaging material availability, manage MRP/ERP planning data, and develop contingency plans while mentoring the planning team to ensure on-time customer commitments.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum 8 years experience in Purchasing and/or Planning.
• Experience managing purchasing spend > RM100 million and >300 SKUs.
• Strong negotiation skills and knowledge.
• Strategic and analytical thinking with problem-solving ability.
• Clear written and verbal communication, able to influence stakeholders.
• Proficient in planning, organization and detail-orientation.
• Proficient with MS Office; advanced Excel and data analysis preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Develop qualified suppliers based on purchasing needs; conduct inquiries, cost analysis and price negotiations.
• Manage supplier relationships and coordinate material deliveries to support production requirements.
• Ensure raw and packaging materials availability while optimizing inventory levels.
• Monitor supplier lead times, MOQs, sourcing ratios, supplier capacity and delivery constraints.
• Escalate unresolved supplier or material constraints impacting production or cost.
• Lead, coach and develop the planning team; set priorities and back-up coverage.
• Maintain planning parameters and data accuracy in MRP/ERP (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock).
• Analyze planning data to identify gaps and improve forecast-to-plan conversion.
• Develop contingency plans for supply, capacity or demand disruptions.
• Lead regular planning and execution reviews with documented owners and timelines.
• Monitor KPIs: days of supply, inventory health, material availability, service levels.
• Drive supply reviews and contribute to SOP processes.

The Procurement & Planning Manager is responsible for developing qualified suppliers based on purchasing needs, managing supplier relationships, and coordinating material deliveries to support production requirements. This role ensures raw and packaging materials availability while optimizing inventory levels, and acts as the escalation point for unresolved supplier or material constraints that may impact production, service, inventory, or cost.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop qualified suppliers based on purchasing needs; conduct inquiries, cost analysis, and price negotiations
• Manage supplier relationships and coordinate material deliveries to support production requirements
• Ensure raw and packaging materials availability while optimizing inventory levels
• Monitor supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, sourcing ratios, supplier capacity, and delivery constraints
• Act as the escalation point for unresolved supplier or material constraints that may impact production, service, inventory, or cost
• Manage, coach and develop the planning team; set priorities, allocate workload, build capability and maintain effective backup coverage
• Maintain planning parameters and data accuracy in the MRP/ERP system, including lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, planning horizons and scheduling rules
• Analyze planning data and trends to identify process gaps, improve forecast-to-plan conversion, reduce schedule changes and enhance operational performance
• Develop contingency plans for supply, capacity or demand disruptions and coordinate recovery actions to protect customer commitments
• Lead regular planning and execution reviews, ensuring decisions, owners, timelines and follow-up actions are clearly documented
• Monitor planning performance through relevant KPIs such as days of supply, inventory health, material availability, and supplier-related service levels.
• Drive supply reviews and contribute to SOP processes.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years experience in Purchasing and / or Planning function
• Managed purchasing spend of > RM100 million, > 300 material SKU's
• Strong negotiation skills and knowledge
• Strategic and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels
• Strong planning, organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel and data-analysis capability are preferred
• High integrity, accountability, commercial awareness and a results-oriented mindset
• Ability to challenge assumptions constructively, develop a functional roadmap and lead change
• Leadership, coaching and team-development capability

MAPEI Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MMSB) is a manufacturer and supplier of specialty chemicals for the building and construction industry.

MMSB was incorporated on 4 January 1992. Business activities started in the form of trading with 6 employees. In 2001, facilities for production of powder solutions for installing ceramic tiles and stone materials were established in Rawang. Expansion to cover manufacturing of latex-based liquid products followed in 2008 and grinding aids for the cement industry in 2010. In April 2011, an automated, high-tech mixer was installed to cater to increasing demand in local and export markets.

With continuing rapid growth, further big-scale expansion was necessary and construction of a new ultra-modern plant with facilities for production, warehousing and laboratories started in Nilai in 2013. Completion was achieved in December 2014 and all operations are now running and in place.

The company now offers a broad range of MAPEI's product lines for buildings, civil engineering works and underground construction including adhesives for ceramic & stone materials, waterproofing, roofing, sealing & jointing, concrete repairs & protection, structural strengthening, industrial flooring, concrete admixtures, as well as additives for cement production.
