Participating in new product introduction (NPI) meetings and establishing suitable manufacturing process flows for new products. Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances to develop appropriate manufacturing processes for precision CNC turning and milling. Developing process plans, manufacturing methods and work instructions to ensure products are manufactured consistently and efficiently.
About the role
Participating in new product introduction (NPI) meetings and establishing suitable manufacturing process flows for new products. Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances to develop appropriate manufacturing processes for precision CNC turning and milling. Developing process plans, manufacturing methods and work instructions to ensure products are manufactured consistently and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborating with the Technical Team, Production Managers and relevant departments to review existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Conducting process studies, time studies and cost analysis to reduce manufacturing costs, improve productivity and optimize production rates
- Developing and implementing process improvements, automation and new manufacturing methods to improve production efficiency and process capability
- Designing, testing and validating process improvements, fixtures, tooling and process systems where required
- Performing process risk assessments, process simulations and troubleshooting to identify and resolve manufacturing issues
- Ensuring manufacturing processes comply with applicable quality, safety and customer requirements
- Developing and maintaining standardized operating procedures (SOP), work instructions and other process documentation for new and improved processes
- Providing technical support to the Technical Team and Production Team on process documentation, standard operating procedures and manufacturing-related issues
Job Requirements:
- Experience in precision manufacturing, particularly CNC turning and/or CNC milling
- Experience in developing standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions and process documentation
- Experience working with CAD/CAM software for CNC machining process development and optimization
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances and GD&T
- Experience in process improvement, cycle-time reduction, productivity improvement and cost reduction
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot machining and manufacturing issues
- Ability to work effectively with Technical, Production, Quality and other cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing standards will be an advantage
