Job summary

ASA System (M) Sdn.Bhd is seeking a PLC Programmer/Automation Engineer in Penang to develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs based on project requirements. The role involves integrating PLCs with HMIs, DCS, and SCADA, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable control solutions.

The candidate should have a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation, 2–3 years’ PLC programming experience, and willingness to travel for project support.

• 2-3 years of PLC programming/Automation experience.
• Able to work independently on design, programming, and on-site commissioning.
• Good communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Willing to travel locally or overseas for project support.

Responsibilities

• Develop, code, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs based on project requirements and specifications.

Job description

PLC Program Development: Develop, code, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs based on project requirements and specifications.

System Integration: Integrate PLC systems with other control systems, such as Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Electrical Design and Documentation: Collaborate with electrical engineers to design electrical control systems, create wiring diagrams, and develop documentation for PLC installations and modifications.

Commissioning and Testing: Participate in the installation, commissioning, and testing of PLC systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to safety standards.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC programs, hardware, or network communications. Perform regular maintenance tasks, including backups, software updates, and system optimizations.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, project managers, and end-users, to understand requirements, provide technical support, and deliver efficient solutions.

Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including program descriptions, user manuals, technical specifications, and change logs.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols while designing and implementing PLC programs.

Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users or operators on the operation and maintenance of PLC systems. Assist in troubleshooting issues and offer guidance on best practices.

Requirements

At least possess a Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or equivalent.

A minimum of 2-3 years working experience in PLC programming/Automation systems.

Able to work independently on design, programming, and on-site commissioning.

Good communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Willing to travel locally or overseas for project support whenever required.
