Job summary

NBS Intellectual Sdn Bhd is an award-winning IP firm in Malaysia, seeking dynamic individuals for patent-related roles. Responsibilities include novelty searches, drafting and filing patent documents, PCT and foreign filings, IP queries, and maintaining IP management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical, Biological Sciences, Organic Chemistry, or AI/CS/IT/Software Engineering.
• At least 2 years of IP-related experience.
• Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both spoken and written.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Master’s degree or above is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform novelty and other IP-related searches, incl. freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses.
• Draft and file patent documents for clients’ inventions.
• Conduct PCT national-phase filings and foreign filings with foreign agents.
• Handle patent queries and cost estimates.
• Report on examination results from IP offices locally and abroad.
• Assist in document management and IP-related materials; proofreading content.

Key Responsibilities

Performing novelty searches for clients' inventions and other types of relevant searches and analyses, including freedom-to-operate searches, infringement analysis, landscape searches, equivalent patent searches, and legal status research

Drafting and filing patent documents for clients' inventions

Performing PCT national-phase filings and foreign filings by liaising with foreign agents

Handling patent queries and cost estimates

Reporting on and responding to examination reports issued by IP Offices locally and abroad

Assisting in document and forms preparations and IP management systems revolving around patents and industrial designs

Proof-reading, reviewing, and preparing IP-related content for the company's promotional and educational materials

Qualifications and Requirements

Must-have

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical, Biological Sciences, Organic Chemistry, or any equivalent; or

Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Software Engineering, or any equivalent

At least 2 years of relevant experience in the field of IP

Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia

Demonstrates good time management, proactive attitude, team spirit and eagerness to learn; and

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Added Advantage

Master’s degree or above in the required field

Fluency in Chinese language (spoken and written)

Proficiency in any figure drawing/editing software

Proficiency in online document processing/translation tool
