Job summary

Pintas is seeking a Patent Engineer in Malaysia to lead high-quality patent drafting and advise clients on IP strategy. The role involves mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with legal counsel on prosecutions for Malaysia and international filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics or equivalent.
• Experience in patent drafting and prosecution preferred.
• Strong English writing and technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Draft patent specifications, claims, and technical descriptions.
• Conduct patentability assessments and prior art searches.

So what is your role? As a Patent Engineer, you will:

Advising inventors and business owners on obtaining intellectual property rights that prevent unauthorised making, using, importing, or selling of inventions.

Drafting high-quality patent specifications, claims, and technical descriptions.

Conducting patentability assessments, prior art searches, and invention analyses.

Managing and prosecuting Malaysia and international patent applications, including responding to office actions.

Working closely with clients and legal counsel to align IP strategies with business objectives.

Promoting Pintas’ intellectual property services and building trusted client relationships.

Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing work of junior patent engineers, where applicable.

Evaluating and contributing to the development of AI-assisted patent drafting tools.

Training & Professional Development

Who are we looking for?

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical, Electronic), Physics, or equivalent qualifications.

Strong interest in technology, innovation, and continuous learning.

Excellent command of written English.

Language requirements: English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia to effectively communicate with our diverse client base and stakeholders.

Prior patent drafting or prosecution experience is highly preferred.

Candidates with supervisory or mentoring experience will have an added advantage.

Fresh graduates with strong academic and writing skills are also encouraged to apply.
