Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of our third-party inspection and survey business across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. You will ensure inspections are planned, executed safely and professionally, and aligned with client requirements and company procedures.

The successful candidate will coordinate inspectors, surveyors, subcontractors, laboratories, and clients, while maintaining accurate reports and documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Business, Logistics, Maritime, Engineering, Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in inspection, surveying, commodity trading, shipping, logistics, testing, or related industry.
• Experience managing field teams and coordinating multiple inspection assignments.
• Strong knowledge of commodity inspection and survey operations.
• Experience with palm oil, vegetable oils, chemicals, fertilizers, or other bulk commodities.
• Understanding of sampling, quantity/quality inspection, cargo surveys, loading/discharging operations, and inspection reporting.
• Strong communication, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to travel; valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure inspection reports, certificates, photographs, sampling records, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
• Communicate with clients regarding arrangements, requirements, findings, and issues.
• Monitor the quality and performance of inspectors and surveyors.
• Ensure inspections comply with international standards, client procedures, and SOPs.
• Resolve operational issues and customer complaints quickly and professionally.
• Monitor costs, manpower utilization, overtime, and profitability.
• Develop relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
• Support business development and identify new inspection opportunities.
• Ensure all operational activities comply with HSE and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily inspection and survey operations across Malaysia and, where required, Southeast Asia.
• Coordinate inspectors, surveyors, subcontractors, laboratories, and clients.
• Plan and allocate manpower according to inspection schedules and client requirements.
• Handle inspection assignments involving palm oil, edible oils, chemicals, fertilizers, and other commodities.
• Ensure inspection reports, certificates, photographs, sampling records, and other documentation are completed accurately and on time.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding inspection arrangements, requirements, findings, and operational issues.
• Monitor the quality and performance of inspectors and surveyors.
• Ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with relevant international standards, client procedures, and company SOPs.
• Resolve operational issues and customer complaints quickly and professionally.
• Monitor job costs, manpower utilization, overtime, subcontractor costs, and operational profitability.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, terminals, traders, manufacturers, shipping companies, and other industry stakeholders.
• Support the management team in business development and identifying new inspection opportunities.
• Ensure all operational activities comply with company HSE and quality requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Business, Logistics, Maritime, Engineering, Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in inspection, surveying, commodity trading, shipping, logistics, testing, or a related industry.
• Experience managing field teams and coordinating multiple inspection assignments.
• Strong knowledge of commodity inspection and survey operations is highly desirable.
• Experience with palm oil, vegetable oils, chemicals, fertilizers, or other bulk commodities will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of sampling, quantity/quality inspection, cargo surveys, loading/discharging operations, and inspection reporting.
• Strong communication, negotiation, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
• Able to work under pressure and manage urgent or last‑minute inspection requests.
• Willing to travel when required.
• Possess a valid driving licence.
