Job summary

NUR Power Sdn Bhd is looking for an Operations Field Technician to support safe, reliable power-plant operations through routine monitoring, inspections, and startup/shutdown activities.

You will collect operational data from charts and meters, assist maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and SOP requirements while keeping the plant area tidy.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Engineering required.
• 3–6 years in similar industry or at least 2–4 years in Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant operations.
• AGTES certification and P&ID/process knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine pre-starts and post-start checks as per planned schedule.
• Record data accurately in the check sheet and ensure consistency with required formats.
• Conduct routine site rounds to capture plant operations data and report abnormalities.
• Operate plant auxiliaries (EDG, Fire Fighting, WTP, pumps) per schedule and monitor parameters.
• Open/close valves and switches to start or shut down turbines and HRSGs per signals.
• Assist with process isolations/de-isolations and recommissioning after maintenance.
• Monitor equipment and indicators to detect operating problems and take corrective actions.
• Support emergency response training and maintain housekeeping in the plant area.

Job description

The Operations Field Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power plant through routine monitoring, inspection, and operation of plant equipment and auxiliary systems. This includes conducting operational checks, monitoring equipment performance, collecting operational data, assisting with plant start-up and shutdown activities, and supporting maintenance activities through system isolation and recommissioning. The role also ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures, supports emergency response activities, and maintains good housekeeping standards to ensure continuous and effective plant operations.

Job Description

• Perform routine pre-starts and post-starts check for plant system operations prior to start up and after the steady safe of operations as per planned schedule. Ensure the data recorded in the check sheet written accurately as per required.
• Perform routine round check for capturing site plant operations data to ensure healthiness of the running system and report to CCR for any abnormalities.
• Perform routine data collections from charts, meters, and gauges at established intervals, and take corrective steps as necessary for daily statistical reports.
• Operates other plant auxiliary’s equipment as directed by Shift Charge Engineer ("SCE") or Central Control Room ("CCR") such as Emergency Diesel Generator, Fire Fighting system, Water Treatment Plant, pumps and others as per plant testing schedule and monitor all the parameters as per specification.
• Open and close valves and switches in sequence upon signals from CCR, in order to start or shut down gas turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generator ("HRSG"), Steam Turbine and other auxiliary units.
• Assist SCE to perform process isolations and de-isolations as required by Permit to Work (PTW) system and recommission the system after completion of maintenance.
• Make adjustments or minor repairs, such as tightening leaking and pipe joints if required; report any needs for major repairs.
• Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.
• Act as fire-fighting team member or Emergency response team ("ERT") for the plant and attend the scheduled or planned related training.
• Carry out and ensure housekeeping of the plant area to ensure kept and tidy all the times.
• Ensure that daily plant equipment status is relayed to the next shift appropriately, smoothly, and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety procedures, and company policies related to power plant operations. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines.
• Perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish the company overall objectives, which may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 3-6 years working experience in similar industry or at least 2-4 years in Combined Cycle Gas Turbined power plant operations.
• Minimum Diploma/Certificate in Engineering Disciplines
• Minimum Steam Engine Driver Grade 2 and above
• Authorized Gas Tester & Entry Supervisor for Confined Space (AGTES).
• Knowledgeable in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and process principle.
